About Us
Welcome! We’re Daily Gold, a female-owned and operated business providing quality jewelry for everyday life at an affordable price point. We specialize in heirloom-quality gold-filled and sterling silver jewelry meant to last for years, even with daily wear.
Start from the beginning.
Our three founders, Hayley, Kaylyn, and Sharayah, met through their husbands, who all grew up together. A friendship quickly formed through a mutual love of traveling, bonding over movies and TV shows, and nights spent around the dinner table. A ladies craft night making jewelry in 2019 quickly turned into a side hobby due to the unexpected demand from friends and family. Over the past 5 years, they have turned their hobby into a full fledged business, and feel so proud of what Daily Gold has become!
Our values
We work hard to make sure our products are both beautiful and durable, that we create fair wage jobs for all of our employees and contractors, and that we continue to provide high quality jewelry at an affordable price point.
Meet our Founders
Hayley Marchionda Pugel
Hayley likes to joke that Daily Gold is her “5:00-9:00” because it has been a side-hustle for so long, but the small business has morphed into being a huge part of her daily life, both personally and professionally. She oversees strategic operations to ensure the brand's continued growth and success, including marketing, content planning, customer relations and creating amazing events for Daily Gold’s community of golden gals.
Outside of Daily Gold, Hayley works full time leading communications and reputation management for a global wellness brand and has worked in the public relations industry her entire career for some of the world’s largest brands. In her free time, Hayley enjoys hiking and spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two giant schnauzers. They love exploring and taking in all the beauty of their home in Salt Lake City, but travel the world every chance they get.
Kaylyn Johnson
Kaylyn is a proud co-owner of Daily Gold, where her passion for creativity and continuous learning shines through. She views Daily Gold not just as a job, but as a creative outlet that she is fortunate to pursue alongside her closest girlfriends. Kaylyn’s involvement in the business spans from curating and designing many of the beloved Daily Gold pieces to managing inventory, packaging, and handling the financial aspects behind the scenes.
Beyond her roles at Daily Gold, Kaylyn stays busy in her career in Speech Language Pathology specializing in early childhood intervention. As a devoted mother to a toddler, she embraces the jobs and challenges of motherhood while balancing her professional pursuits. In her free time, Kaylyn loves to immerse herself with reading whether through reading physical books or audiobooks. She also finds fulfillment in volunteering at her church and actively participating in various play groups within the Lexington community. Kaylyn and her husband prioritize taking time out of their busy lives to travel as a family, cherishing the opportunities to explore the world through their child’s eyes.
Sharayah Whelchel
As one of the founders, Sharayah is largely responsible for managing inventory, systems, and staff for Daily Gold. She loves nerding out over all of the math and logistics required in running a small business. Sharayah also enjoys throwing in-person events for the company because our #goldengals are such an encouragement and inspiration for her!
Sharayah is a mom to two rambunctious toddler boys, Theo and Ender, who keep her busy and happy and exhausted most days. She currently resides in Corbin, KY, but spent last summer in London, England and she’s been trying to find a way back ever since. Sharayah has her doctorate in physical therapy and still works a few days a month in a hospital setting and really enjoys it. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, researching bioavailable food sources, sewing/knitting, being outside, and playing board games with her husband.
What’s so special about Daily Gold jewelry? How is gold-filled different from gold-plated?
Gold-plated jewelry is made with a very thin layer of gold (usually .05% the weight of the piece) that very quickly will wear off and can turn your skin green due to reactions to the base metal layer of copper or brass. Gold vermeil is similar, but with a sterling silver base, which will still be exposed through the gold with wear and tear but typically doesn’t turn your skin green.
Gold-filled jewelry (what we make here at Daily Gold) is made by adding a thick layer of gold (at least 5% the weight of the piece—100x more gold than gold-plated!) to a brass core, creating a tarnish-resistant surface where only gold is exposed. The metals are permanently bound together using heat and pressure and in contrast to gold plating, it retains the value of its gold content over time. Gold-filled jewelry is tarnish resistant and can last many years if properly maintained.
Gold-filled jewelry offers an affordable and quality alternative to solid gold jewelry, which in addition to being much more expensive, is also more malleable and thus more delicate.
